Useful notes for everyday pet care.
General information, not veterinary advice. Always follow the instructions for the exact product and seek professional advice about your pet's health or individual needs.
Chews: choose for the pet in front of you
Read the intended species, size, age and use guidance. Supervise chewing and remove damaged or unsuitable items. If a chew is edible, check ingredients, feeding guidance and any suitability restrictions before purchase. A chew toy and an edible chew are not interchangeable.
Cooling: comfort starts with the basics
Provide shade and fresh drinking water, avoid heat-related risks and follow the manufacturer's instructions for any cooling product. Products differ and can lose their cooling effect during use; check your pet and the product regularly.
A cooling mat, jacket or other accessory is not permission to walk a dog in unsafe heat, leave a pet in a hot car or delay veterinary care. The RSPCA explains these distinctions in its hot-weather pet-care guidance. This link is a reading resource, not a claim of endorsement or partnership.
Grooming products: gentle and suitable
Coat type, condition and your pet's tolerance matter. Read tool suitability guidance, introduce handling calmly and stop if your pet is distressed. Do not force a tool through painful matting; ask a qualified groomer or vet for help where appropriate.
When a question is more than a product question
Skin irritation, pain, persistent itching or suspected heat illness need veterinary advice. Retail products should not be used to diagnose or treat a condition without an appropriately authorised use and professional advice.
